As promised here is my Review of the PS3 Super Slim.
- Sound
The Super Slim in the first fact not that loud as many claim it to be in the contrary the Super Slim is a little bit more quit than the Slim when using a Digital game.
The only complain is a Disc game.
Sins this is louder than the Slim but not that bad as some say.
Only when your start your PS3 Super Slim when there is a disc inside you will hear the disc spin, but only the disc no other parts are making sound that you clearly hear it from your couch.
Also when starting a game the disc spins and when there is a heavy part in game the disc will be heard.
But that just it and I am clearly not bothered by it.
The reason wy you an hear the disc spin is that the cap that conceals the BlueRay player is really thin its just a piece of plastic while the previous version had the disc deep in the system so that you could only hear a fan and hard drive make sound.
If you have allot of games on Disc this could bother you but keep in mind that its only the disc that is making the noticeable noise.
If you are more of a Digital gamer like me this system is perfect for you in that part.
- Speed
This depend how you get your Super Slim.
Example; I bought a Super Slim 12GB Flash memory + 500GB harddrive, I am using the 500Gb as my storage making my 12GB Flash my extra speed.
This is better then just having a PS3 Super Slim with 300GB or 500GB harddrive without the internal 12GB flash memory.
Is the speed really that noticeable?
Not really it only a small increase but when i am playing Borderland 2 Digital i do notice that that the terrain load a bit faster.
So if you want your PS3 Super Slim to run a bit faster this could be a nice option for you.
- The Look
This is a opinion but is something i consider a useless need for you system if you want to just enjoy gaming and not staring at your PS3.
My opinion is positive, i like the retro look and the opening on top and the fact that its smaller.
But a disadvantage is the fact that the opening is on top.
If you want to put under you TV in the TV stand you will notice that its not easy to swap disc’s sins most TV stands are small spaced for machines that have a opening on the front side.
You could put in a standing position with a foot that you need to buy separately from a store.
This is a nice way to show you PS3 Super Slim and put it in the spot light.
Its nice but a little more space taking if you don’t have many to start with.
A plus to the standing position is the opening of the BlueRay player.
It opens more smooth unlike the lying position.
- Quality
This is one of the few things a PlayStation gamer takes as a priority.
Now as hardware no doubt it good but if you are new to PlayStation check it out on the web on site that shows the specs of a machine I am to lazy to put it with this review.
The shell that covers the sweet parts of your Super Slim feels a little bit plastic unlike it previous version.
And sins it is so small and light you have the feeling it could break fast.
I have not tested this out sins I don’t want to break my Super Slim but i can say that it is not to that weak.
Only the opening of the BlueRay player feels easy to break if it would be hit hard or when you try to budge it what would stupid if you did.
- Setting up a PS3 Super Slim
This was defiantly a weak spot for PlayStation.
The PS3 Super Slim still not has a HDMI cable with the device.
Also there no instruction book of code to a web page for putting a harddrive in your PS3 Super Slim.
It’s a shame that this could happen sins most people don’t understand PC’s that much.
And even with my knowledge i looked up a video for how to put my harddrive in sins I had no idea where to look with out breaking it.
Moving your date from a older PS3 was easy it only recurred a tutorial from the web page from PlayStation
link here if you want need it for now of later:
http://manuals.playstation.net the steps where explained clear and understandable.
There where a few things you must take note of.
Some data will not move to your new PS3
Example; Little big planet 1 and 2 save is part of the Game data and will not be recognized by you new PS3 as your data.
Trophy syncing seem to work fine until you start a game that you played on your previous system and all trophies look gone.
Don’t panic there not just sync your Trophy list again in the Online trophy list and BAM there back.
- Overall Opinion
This is a great version of a PS3 but not that much of a improvement compared to the Slim but it is a Great improvement to the Standard PS3.
The sound coming from moving parts from your Super Slim is almost not heard but the disc spinning is.
It could be problem but if you are a digital gamer that uses the PSN for getting games this is not a problem and when you got a bigger harddrive it easy for a big library.
The shell feel weak but its not a portable machine so this is point that should not be taken to high
The opening to the BlueRay player is most definitely the weakest part but when not used well but can take years if used as it should be used.
The instruction for putting a harddrive in your PS3 Super Slim is not given and its huge problem if the user has no experience with doing this.
The tec is good and but the stuff around it is missing what would made it easier for a new user.
Overall I would advice you a Super Slim if you have a Standard PS3 of you are new to the brand.
Slim user don’t need to change sins the Slim work fine with the 250GB harddisk but if you need more space you could get a new harddrive instead of a new PS3.
