The Last of Us Multiplayer Review

With The Last of Us out for more than a month now we had to chance to experience the amazing story that is set in this game.
But with this breathtaking experience comes also a surprising fun and new multiplayer experience.
At first i would expect another Uncharted like multiplayer but that is totally wrong.
The multiplayer takes its roots on the single player experience.
Featuring the same stealth like combat.

The basic of the multiplayer are set on 4vs4 team based matches.
That are played on maps similar to areas found in the single player.
Again you will have limited supply’s and only a few bullets in your clip so fighting another player can be an intense experience.
But could also be over in seconds.
Since your health goose down in only a few hits.
So cover is the basic understanding of fighting back.
Unlike Uncharted where gun running was the way to go.

I like the way i experience every match.
While the basic are the same.
The way we all played changed even during the match.
Playing as a team felt really important even with 3 strangers in my team.
And the fun i experienced from playing was surprisingly addicting since it was so intense to play and sneak up on another player and go for the kill.

I am happy that i never felt that any item or gun is overpowered and ruined my experience.
Even with the Molotov being a one hit killer if you are in the blast radius.

MOLOTOV!!!! :P
The loadouts are easy to set-up and don't take me 15 minutes to set-up.
Which i do have to do in Modern Warfare.
You only have a few points to spend to added guns and perks to your loadout making the choices for your loadout really important for how you play.

The game looks gorgeous even in the multiplayer.
Although there is not much time to spend looking at the map as a tourist.
When you do get a chance, you notice how much love Naughty Dog spend on the terrain.

The Character models are also looking really nice and varied.
But i felt there was not enough customization.
A helmet and a mask makes is not enough.
But that probably me being one of those idiots that wants to customize the character to much :P

Small advice play this multiplayer with a headset.
And then you will notice every sound even footsteps.
When i listening through my Sony Pulse Elite i can hear my teammates left to me without seeing them and thats just awesome.

There was only one thing i missed for the multiplayer and thats a survival mode.
Make it a separate multiplayer below Factions.
Give a few players a map and a few resources to find.
And survive against waves of infected.
Who knows, maybe as future DLC?

  Final Conclusions and Thoughts

Positive
  • New Multiplayer Experience
  • Looks Gorgeous.
  • Not too much choices for the loadout set-up.
  • Balanced gameplay.
Negative
  • More option to customize the player skin then just a helmet and a mask.
  • more modes than just Team Death match.
